I have a corsa b, club. W reg. 1.0 12v.

There is some rattling in the engine and i have checked online etc etc and most say its the timing chain so im taking no chances.

vauxhall are wanting £276 for supply and fit + VAT.

I am considering on whether to pay it or find a 1.4 or 1.6 and just put that in over a weekend.

what would you do?

are you capable of fitting the 1.4 or 1.6 yourself?

if so then go for it, will cost about the same.

Then again if your capable of that, why cant you fit the timing chain yourself?

Off set the costs entirely and you'll get the answer you want. For example, if you change the engine for a bigger one your fuel costs go up, your insurance goes up and dependant on the size you choose your tax will increase.

12v always rattle. Keep driving it and ignore the rattle if it does go pop simply get another 12v complete engine from ebay for about £100 and fit that and carry on rattling.

Pointless swapping your engine to a 1.4 or 1.6 when you could buy a complete car with that engine as standard for not much more money then a conversion will cost you.

Also increased insurance costs due to being none standard etc

If you really want to do a conversion go bigger and fit a 2.0 or 1.8.
