Looking to go away with the Mrs around may/June next year.. Thinking of a chilled out beach holiday, somewhere with a few bars n restaurants around too but cant be silly money

Was thinking about Corfu/Crete or maybe Portugal

and no before anyway suggests we cant afford to go to silly places like Maldives or other high end destinations

Rhyl is quite nice around then...

Not many nodders and tampons in the sea either!

If you want really chilled take a look at Kefalonia. I've not been yet but heard nothing but good things
Corfu is expensive for what it is IMO. I think most of the other Greek islands are nicer

Crete is lovely, If your goign Self Catering, I'd recommend Blue Sky Apartments in Gouves. Literally (sp?) a 5 min walk into a nice small town with plenty of resturants, and about few minutes walk onto the beach. Went for my 18th with family for 2 weeks, really enjoyed myself. From where i were staying i could see 2 huge satalitte dishes, hired a quad-bike out and went up the mountain to them, was an absolutly lovely view from up there, was only a guard dog whcih didn't bother as it is too hot so he just lays in the shade with water . I'd give it a 10/10.

Corfu is a lovley island. Get a ped and go crusing.

Lekas (Lefkada) is also nice, but a much smaller quieter island.

Theres a few other Greek islands thats are really nice.

If you like a bit of history, I can recommend Cyprus, and although i've not made it to Turkey yet, thats meant to be very similar.

I was going to suggest Margate as that has lots of sand.

I'd recommend Lefkas as well. Small island so not all that touristy or developed but some really nice beaches and bars/ restaurants in the harbours. I think most of the hotels are on the east coast, the best beach is in the south west which you can only reach by these mountain roads which are great fun on the quad bikes which are cheap as chips to hire.

Cyprus is nice but not very cheap
