would the air flow sensor effect the revs though? one night i started my car and without reving the revs just dropped and some lights came on (eng management, oil etc) and the engine just stalled. done this when i put my foot on the clutch when driving home. my bro cleaned the throttle body and it worked but now the revs are going down between 0 and 1k but doenst stall.
doesnt the idle air control valve not have more to do with the revs more than the afm?

If it's been running a while then it indicates a sensor affected by temperature in my books which would send me down the road of the CTS and the O2 sensor.

CTS - coolant temperature sensor
O2 - lambda sensor (sensor on the exhaust manifold)
