I am in search of the holy grail of the computer world... a silent PSU!

Anyone recommend any PSUs? I am running two PCs at my desk and it sounds like vacuum cleaner around here!

I have a Corsair VX550w (I think that's the right name!) and it seems pretty quiet, I think most of the noise comes from my case fans One of my old Enermaxes had a speed controller built in

Tbf bigger fans usually spin slower which means less noise, but I have 4x 80mm fans, 3 of which are making most of the noise

Mine sounds like a bloody helicopter, bought it off eba and have no idea whats making the noise, think it is a number of things, might purchase one of the above and try and get it a bit quieter.

I have 2 120mm fans iirc.
I don't even need them coz my case is made of mesh

Do you have a budget?
I have an Antec TruePower, it has a single fan on the back but has a large heatsink inside. It's really quiet, almost silent but is a little pricey. In fact it's actually gone up to more than I paid for it a year ago. Not many parts do that
