Anybody have one? Did you ever get one for your dad Cosmo?
I'm considering getting one for my christmas but I could buy a lot of books for what it costs.
It's something that I could either end up using a lot or never at all.

if you want to only buy books from Amazon go with the kindle. Otherwise the Sony range is good, especially the 300.

I wouldn't buy that many, being able to display pdf's is more important.
It's the Sony's I've seen in person and was really impressed with the screens.
Might have to get one from somewhere that I could take it back if I didn't like it, like argos.

have a few books in pdf and they all look good on the sony 300. I also tried the touchscreen Sony the 600 , personally did not like it, the touchscreen is just not as sharp as the 300 . I got my 300 in Waterstones for £149 with £10 ebook card free, plus if you get or have the waterstones customer card you will get another £5 in points.

Just having a look at the Sony ones, there doesn't seem to be any benefit to the touchscreen one apart from the bigger screen and it's abot 50% more.
Might just go for it on boxing day.
Do you download pdf's or buy books in whatever readedr format?

I have bought pdf and epub format books. If you register the reader with sony they will let you download 125 ebooks for free (classics etc, but free is free and some are good). This is a useful site - good for finding free ebooks and paid ones etc http://www.the-ebook-reader.com/

Were you a big reader of paper books previously?
I like an actual book, how do you find it compared to that?

I travel a lot and would rather carry one ebook reader than say 5 books, plus I can read files for work rtf, pdf etc. I read quite obscure books mainly historical, so if you take postage from US etc into account an ebook is much cheaper than the hard copy would be.
It may not be a book but I got used to it very quickly.

I'm just about convinced tbh, thanks for all your help, good to hear from someone who uses it instead of just a site reviewing.
One last major thing (I'll probably think of more stupid stuff) what about the screen size?
Is there any major downfall to the smaller screen on the 300 instead of the 600 for instance or the older 505?

I just got my Dad a Sony one for this xmas, will check which it is and let you know.
Had a bit of a mess about with it the other day and it looks a decent piece of kit, the screen really does mimic paper and looks like it would be easy to read off for long period of time.
