I appear to have made a bit of mistake
I have just bought a new Panasonic tv for the livingroom and went on the assumption that all tv have vga ports now a days....this one dosent.
How can I conect my Laptop to the tv?
Laptop has VGA and s-video
tv has HDMI, Svideo, Scart
obvious answer is s-video to s-video......will this work and be readable??

S-Video (if your TV has it)
Audio might be an issue too.
No chance of you taking the TV back?

Use the s video. Tvs aren't much good for reading off of at computer distance anyway. You can get a 3.5mm to phono for audio too.

You need an encoder to go from VGA to DVI. Pain in the arse and a lot more expensive than an S video cable.
