Right my girl friends gsi is having problems starting,it starts first thing in the morning but when it reachs up to temperture it wont crank over after being turned off, give it an hour os so and it will start back up. Ive changed the starter motor but still experiencing this problem. Could it be the alternator or the battery? Any veiws welcome as could do with some advise. Thanks

I don't understand what made you think it was the starter motor, if its temperture related

Right ok then. Its surely got to be heat related? So at a guess I would start checking fault codes if none come up try stuff like lambda sensor etc, but its a guess, I am sure someone with more knowledge would help more

Sounds like the traditional coil problem from the old days. Might be worth trying a second hand one.

It turned out to be a faulty ignition switch
