My mate has just rang to put his car into ford for a service and they said it's a major service, an he said it'd had it last year, but they said it hasn't had it's big flow change :-s

what's a flow change, is it like engine coolant or something.
He asked if it was oil and they said no.

It's a focus, done 37k and this is it's fifth year service, any ideas?

seeing as the big servise is every 3 years or 37.5k which ever comes first,

i think they are talking bullshit, also i worked for ford for 5 years and i've never hered of a flow change lol

he should tell them the car is 5 years old, it had its 37.5k service last year and they should be able to see that on its history, as almost all ford main dealers can check other dealers cars historys.

fluids would only be ether brake fluid change or a coolant change,

break fluid ford sugest (emphasis on that word) that it should be changed every 2 years if its still amber coloured and not got any black resedue in it then leave it till next year,

colant change they shouldnt be changing unless you state you want it changed or if they have tested it and found that its got a low coolant consentration, this will take about 10 minuits to change and they most probably will only drane a bit of coolant and top it up..

when i was working for ford 2 years ago it used to be (for new cars they had a 1k servise other wise it was 12.5k)

1k - oil and filter change check tyre pressures and check that the lights work

12.5k - oil and filter change, pollon filter change, car gets a general going over to check that there is nothing wrong with it, tyres, lights, suspension ect

25k - same as above sometimes you might get a breake fluid change with it

37.5k - full servise, plugs, all filters, oil, rear breaks de glased and adjusted, hand brake adjusted and then the same as the 25k servise.

hope that clears some things up for you
