ive just fitted a new rad after my old one cracking on me and ive got some slight issues with the fan not kicking in and it just overheating, the pipe going from the rad to the thermostat looked like it was going to explode and coolent was reaching the top of the header tank by the time i come to realise this (the coolent is at the recomended level when cool). i then took off the thermostat and checked that was working and it was working fine...... i dont really no what else to check apart from the water pump but i am not to sure how to do this? does anybody know how to check this and have any thoughts on this matter? thanks for your help dan.

You could have an air lock, run it up to 100degress with the top off the header tank to let any air. Squeeze what pipes you can at the same time.

How did you check the thermostat was working right?
Have you dangled it in boiling water and see if it opens at 92 degrees?

yeh ive done that twice now, lol the header tank is sat at the level and it just fills up as the temp rises aswell im sure this isnt normal and the fan never kicks in so ive wired a switch to it and made it on when i want it on but i havent really had chance to see if that keeps it cool yet wb

So you're getting over 92 on the gauge and the fan doesn't kick in?
Have you tried replacing the fan switch located in the radiator?

It's on the side of the radiator on the black plastic part. Check both sides of the rad, I think it's around a 22mm spanner to undo it. 2 min job to change.
You could unplug the radiator stat and bridge the 2 pins out to see if your fan works.
