i need to change the gearbox on a mk4 astra and i need to know if its possible to do this with some axle stands and a trolley jack, im gonna do the clutch while im at it

Done a saxo vts gearbox and clutch with just axle stands :-)

So yeah mate , but its a pain in the arse lifting the box up and down , make sure theres 2 people for that bit lol

cool, ill go ahead and buy me a gearbox then, i can get one for £40 2nd hand.. ill just have to check all the bearings are in good order... the ones in mine are knackerd, the inner cv joints wobble in all directions

I done the box on my valver in the street lifted it in myself as well.

Yes I've taken a corsa engine out with just a jack and some bricks.

use a jack to hold gearbox while your taking bolts out and to lift new one in if your doing it on your own

its a pain in the arse..

done it twice.

id say remove the engine. and box.. then fit is all back together..

liftin the box in on the floor. and gettin it to lock in and line up is a cunt

yes changed my clutch so yeah you can its a bit tricky tho
