i have a 1.6 16v sport and i understand that the 2.0 brakes are not much bigger but i take it the pistons are a fair bit bigger? how much better are they than the standard 1.6 brakes???

They are the same diameter, 2.0 brakes are 'fatter' IIRC

Pistons are bigger from memory, discs are 4mm thicker, disperse the heat better.

Better off just changing the discs and pads for decent ones imo.

well ive changed the discs and the pads. ive also had the rear shoes done so the only thing i can think of now is replacing the brake fluid. i was thinking if i change to 2.0 brakes at the same time as i change the fluid then it will be a noticeable improvement. even if it is mainly because of the new fulid.

Nope Davie, the internet states that 288's make the pedal too spongy. Remove them at once and fit 2.0 stuff with upgraded discs and pads...
