I had a ZR+ TDi when they first come out in 2000. In the first year it was back in the dealers 11 times for warranty work. Saying that, i loved it and it was a great tow car for the rally car.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Everyone on here will slate them tbh.

My mum has an 03plate 105+. I used it everyday, kicked its hole in everywhere for around 30k without a problem. Handle superb for a standard car and are fast for a 1.4

As usual they are prone to head gasket problems. If they are fixed properly they are fine after it

My 1.6 sport rapes them, been in my mates cramped, horrible interior and unreliable.

They also just feel gutless.

only the older mg zr's have head gasket failure because its the weak gaskets so they made a multi layer steel replacement

They still go too often, just not as often as the earlier ones.

my mate has one low mileage, he hasnt had the gasket gone, he doesnt drive it enough cause its a total dog. it never works, it always cuts out when driving along, brakes are shit on it, the clutch is nasty, the over build quality is poor.

My mate has an 04 plate and it's falling apart. The interior is falling to pieces. Centre console popped out over a speed bump, heater vents have come out, BOTH front windows won't go up or down as the glass has came away from the motor. His back near side window actually fell out whilst on the move, and smashed his sisters windscreen. It doesn't feel fast at all. The ratio's are FAR too long for the car. All in, it's a piece of shit that I wouldn't swap my '94 Sport for.

2 of my mates had them and they both fell apart within weeks!

They do handle well as a standard car, and arent slow for the engine size/vehicle weight.

But you will be constantly fixing niggly little problems.

Boot lock
Sunroof
Electric window mechanism.
Leaking
Electric switches
Head Gaskets

Those are a few probs my mates had within 2-3 Months.
