i did mine a couple of weeks ago..

you need either a BTEC or level 3 NVQ

you also need to have been in the trade for 4 years post apprenticeship repairing the class of vehicle you want to test

taken from VOSA website btw

you dont need to hvae a betec or a NVQ,

what you need is to have is obviously a placement as a technician at a garage, then the garage will sponsor you to do an aptitude test, then when you pass that you can be put through your MOT test (a lot of people dont get through the aptitude test)

if you have a NVQ lvl 3 then you dont have to do an aptitude test which is complete bolox as ive been in the trade over 7 years working for the 2 busyest main dealers in the area, and people who have done day release for a year and have done there NVQ then they just get to do the easy bit but and others like me have to take a propper wanker of a test..

you need 4 years experience in the class you want to test

and if you dont have the btec or level 3 nvq then you have to do the exam to get a place on the course which is 3 days.
