well plenty of people have decats and seem to get away with it.
just depends if you get pulled in by these VOSA checkpoints they sometimes set up.
i think a bloke i knew who had a decat said the fine could be up to £1500 iirc

No good if its been through an MOT while in your possession
The maximum penalties for breaching emissions regulations are:
Cars: £1,000.
Goods vehicles: £2,500.

If you get pulled you get issued with a Vehicle defect rectification order which gives you 14 days to put it right anyway after which big fine time!

a question for am4nf then where did you get your sports exhaust from? as i was thinking of getting a sportex exhaust system fitted to their 4-2-1 manifold but they only put in a decat pipe with the kit and didn't really want to bodge my standard cat in the system

You can't drive the car either if that's the same as the prohibition order i received which meant i had to rectify my car tehn get somewhere to certify this then go to a police station to get the marker removed.
