I'd get a loan. There is no way in hell I'd put my 3 month old kid in a car that I'm trying to get for under £500.

bit of a daft response. Might be £500 now, could have been £20k new 11-12yrs ago. Doesn't make it any worse than a car of higher value?!

Yeah, at the same time, car safety wasn't as good 11-12 years ago as it is now?

If you can stretch a bit ive been looking recently at Megans, can pick up a 98 onwards for about £800 - £1000 and its a Euro NCAP 4 star car.

I maybe slightly biased actually, but if you get a cheapish wagon or an older 5 door, there is some cheap ones about if you're just running about to the shops and school runs etc...

TBH and as others have said, id be looking at something slightly newer than what you'd be looking at. Purely down to the safety aspect. As Eck said, id not want to be putting my 3 month old in some 1993 astra or whatever. I think the volvo posted is a good shout. Or try gather some more monies and look at slightly newer megans/scenics.

More money isnt an option at the moment.
Never had a problem putting kids in my 1993 corsa before either....
