anyone know much about this? specifically what bits are needed to get one in my 1.4?
can i use my gearbox and shafts, leaving me needing an engine with loom and ecu? is it a plug and play job? i know brakes are the same but ive got 280mm to fit anyway, but do i need 1.8 front suspension?
finding myself gettin bored with the 1.4 while im waiting for the let.
im not selling it and buying a 1.8, i wont get enough from selling mine to get a 1.8 in the condition mines in.

box and shafts should be ok. so long as you get everything apart from them it should be pretty easy. just get everything from the 1.8 sri and sell what you dont need make some money back

1.4 uses the simtec ecu (same as the 1.8).. You just need an ECU, key chip and transponder from a 1.8 and its plug and play.. You might need the BCM but not sure.

Body control module.. I'm not 100% sure if they are coded to the ECU.
You can use your current gearbox yes. Just take the engine out, leave the box it, makes it so much easier.

bcm and instruments are all coded
you need the new engines ecu to be reset, then programed to your car.

by instruments do you mean clocks? how do i go about getting the new ecu programmed to the car? if i do that do i still need key chip and transponder from the original car?

Just get the ECU, key chip and transponder (goes around the barrel) from the 1.8.. But you MIGHT also need the clocks and the BCM.. I'm not 100% sure though. If you can get them all then WIN.

so let me get this straight.
i can either; use the z18 ecu, clocks, bcm, chip, key and transponder
or i can use the z18 ecu, get it cleared and programmed to the rest of the bits already on my car now?
is the only difference between z18xe and z18xep the twinport? does it matter whih i use?
