Thought it would be a failed attempt like the Spruce Guce.
Engines just don't look powerfull enough to get that in the air. Esp if a rear gun, torps added, crew, fuel etc!!!
Gotta love the russians and their crazy ideas, we don't get to see enough of them.

They never leave ground effect, but they were pretty popular. Quite good if you have large expanses of frozen lake to drive about on. Not so good if you have trees and buildings though

Ekranoplans are really interesting. Bonkers things.
2/3 of the engines are to get out of the water, after that, ground effect makes staying up comparatively easy.
