Was just looking at a old p45 i have. For last year i have over paid in tax by £318. Anyone shed some light on how i go about claiming it back? I checked the HM revenue website but its all a bit vague.
I had a rebate 2 or 3 years ago, that they just paid in automatically. But dont want to just wait and see if it will go in, want to make sure i get it.

Nice letter with proof to your local tax office. They'll send a cheque a while later

Ring up your local office and just explain what you have just told us.

This time last year I got a refund for £500 automatically. I always thought you had to apply for tax refunds though

Yeah, I got refunded once automatically, should it be in by now?

I wouldn't rely on HMRC just refunding you straight away every time. They are so unreliable/unpredictable its a joke at times.

Demand they pay it back immediatly or you'll send the heavies round. Thats what they'd do if it were you who owed them monies.
