As i dont have a car worth making a project thread for im spending all my spare time refurbing my Schmidt Modernlines (15x8) so thought i would make a little build thread (something a little different)

had them on the silver mk1 gti i just got rid of.. (picture is of the best wheel but still the picture does the wheels some justice)

couple of close ups to show the condition (every wheel was atleast this bad)

spent around 8 hours so far, refurbed the lips and polished the dishes (only done 3 wheels so far, and only up to 1200 grit wet and dry, plan to do them with 1500 and 2000 as theres still some fine marks from the 1200)

80 grit on to take the worst marks out
240 to flat out most the marks the 80 grit left and so forth..
400
600
1000
1200

then went over with autosol by hand, then autosol mixed with polishing compound via a mop head/drill..

heres how they looked when i had done the above..

as said, still have to do the last alloy, then will source some 1500 and 2000 wet and dry to finish off the dishes, then move onto sorting the centres.. (not polishing the centres)

My brother has the same wheels in the same size and polished his while they were on the car, jacked up and sat in 5th. If you need any spares hes got 3 for sale after taking a chunk out of one in the snow.

When i did a few bits for the bike, I used what is called a trizact pad after the 1500 sand paper then polished with autosol. Seemed to help with the polishing of them.

Wait and see what car you buy next then decide depending on the colour of it.
