I'm not sure if I've worded it correctly. But basically, I want to know the process behind setting up a domain name/URL to refer to something else.
For example, I'd like to set up a photography website using a generic online hosting service such as this:
http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/store.aspx?p=227707
Naturally, in any promo material, business cards etc I can't put this URL.
So how would I direct www.dk-photo.co.uk (for example) to my PhotoReflect site?

Simplest way is to put a frame set on the index page of the hosting.
Could also use a Javascript or PHP redirect although that will mean that you see the longer web address when you're redirected.

Seeing the longer web address wouldn't be in issuse because it'll be well branded.
But I have no idea what those things are. I guess it all depends on what PhotoReflect allow!

A lot of domain registrars allow for url redirection (frame redirection as Ian said) without having to get hosting. I know 1&1 have this option within the control panel, when you get a domain name with them.

123reg will allow you setup standard or frame forwarding. Standard will just work as a re-direct, you will see the http://www.photoreflect.com domain name shortly after typing in your URL. Framed will build a frame and put the http://www.photoreflect.com page into that so that your domain name will always be displayed.

SEO is pretty irreverent for what you're doing, but you don't want to use framed forwarding because it's rubbish. That and you can't get a page rank for framed web forwarding because when Google tries to look at the page it will just see framset HTML with no text or structure so it will probably ignore at and go look for something more fun.

Not bad that - I don't really the experience to build a fantastic webpage unfortunately - I do know basic HTML.

I just made that in Adobe Fireworks and exported it to HTML then uploaded it. Took all of 20 mins to do.

You can download the free 30 day trial then make something in that time. It's not too tricky to make something that looks tidy, just don't go mental
