My car currenetly has no MOT but has 7 months Tax i want to send back and get some cash back off. Therefore declaring the car off the road. Is my current insurance policy still valid? Want it insured just incase anything bad happens.

It's going in my garage in a couple of weeks but as i live on a building site until it's all finished........

Waiting on confirmation about our vans in June before i decide to sell. Will be sold with new MOT and 6 months tax this way or put back on the road for my own use.

I was under the impression insurance doesn't stand unless it has valid MOT and Tax?

Why? You pay insurance to cover the car. Whether its on the road or not?

I'm not saying that is how it is, just what I always thought.

To be fair, i should get written confirmation off Lloyds TSB and transfer it to my new address at the same time.

Need to cover myself here.

Been having a quick look on Google at this - would appear it can vary from company to company tbh. Probably worth reading the small print of your policy or giving them a call to check.

Depends on the company, had a similar situation myself recently.

Had to get my Pug insured (which has been garaged for 12 months) to the mot station. Phoned my insurance company who wouldn't insure it unless it was MOT'd and Taxed.

Ended up going with LV who said it would be covered no matter what.

Looks like i've not kept the Terms and Conditions and only the policy so will need to call them tomorrow at some point.

Most T&C's are available as a PDF download of the companies website or a specimen policy.
