Just after a bit of advise guys
Ive been roped into collecting some wheels for someone this evening.
I will be leaving from Manchester at 3.30pm ish
I done a couple of route finder searches and it is giving me 2 alternative routes
1.
ACROSS TO M6
DOWN M6
ACROSS A14
162 miles
3 hours 5 minutes
2.
UP M62 TO LEEDS
DOWN A1(M)
175 miles
3 hours 30 minutes
Naturally, i would pick the shortest one being route 1, but just wondering which route would be best to take bearing in mind the day and time of travel. Will the M6 be much worse than the A1(M)??
Thanks in advance guys

I strongly advise you to go up the 62 and down the a1.
M6 will be seriously jammed today, 3.30pm... most people finish work at 4 on a friday too.
Is the toll road too far down the M6 before you turn off? If not the M6 toll wouldn't be so bad.

A1(M) without a doubt
Junxction 19 - 12 can be a nightmare on the M6
Plus better scenery going over the 62
