u2u mike b, he did it to his 1.2 16v.
any car will feel and be faster when it's all stripped out. less weight = more bhp/ton.

Nothing performance wise, slight difference in handling, big difference in noise.
Also depends how far you're planning on stripping it. I did mine over time, taking bits out here and there when I was bored, now all I've got left is the dash, 2 seats, harnesses and the sound proofing.
The biggest difference in noise actually came from taking the rooflining out, it made it really echoey which is why I've not bothered with the sound proofing, for fear it'll make it even worse again. Before I took the rooflining out it was easily bareable imo but since taking it out I did a 3 1/2 hour run down to London and the last 3/4 of an hour where really monotonous.
I think I have a fairly high threshold for what I'll put up with too, I've got quite a loud exhaust so stripping it out was only ever gonna make it worse but it's actually road noise which gets to me more now. I can almost blank the exhaust tone out but the road noise on a long journey can really get to me, especially with bad road surfaces too.
All in all probably not worth it

When i took my rear seats out of my 1.2 8v while i was changing interiors it did seem to make it a bit faster mainly louder though like already mentioned, the rear 60/40 seats weigh loads!

Roof lining was still in iirc, it made quite a difference when I took it out
