So i've come to the end of my 18 month contract with my iphone 3g

Its pointless upgrading to a 3G-S when in the next few months we'll have the new iphone.

What do i need to do?

Drop down to SIMPlicity and sell your handset while it is still worth something.

yup. ring o2 and tell them you want to be put on the simplicity for iphone contract.
