Cut the opening latch off, or grind it off.

Then I got told to plastic weld up the hole you will be left with from the latch, but I just put tape on the back and filled it. Then obviously smooth the filler and paint it.

yeah i just cut the opening latch of with a junior hacksaw then put tape on the back and filled the hole with p40 fiberglass and when thats dry remove the tape and fill the back so its abit proud of the cap itself, and wait for that to dry and smooth both sides primmer and paint.
i have two already smoothed for sale in classifieds for £15ono posted
