Usually when you hire a car and drop off at a different location they charge you an extra so that they can recover the car.

When i hired a car in Denmark with the drop off location in Helsinki (as we was driving through Sweden to finland) they charged us like €400 extra so they could get it back.

I'd like to do this. But after driving hundreds of passat TDi's and mondeos I think I'd end up throwing myself in the channel

A mate of mine paid €600 to hire a car to get him from Germany to France (not sure on exact locations). He thought they were just upping the prices as they know they could due to the volcano! Unsure if it was that much due to recovery charge
