Thinking about doing away with my power steering while my engine is out as i am relocating the battery and would quite like to simplify the engine bay

Will i have to change the rack to a non-pas rack, or can i leave the normal pas rack in place and just blank off where the pipes would go ?

you can do that and it will work, but i think it'll be harder than a non pas rack

Less clutter in my engine bay, all my pipes have seen better days and my engine bay is currently bare, so i want to make it as mint as possible while everything is out

Why not go down the EPS route? The 2.5 turn EPS racks cost about £50-60 for a recon unit from a motorfactor. You can either just keep it as manual or install the EPS column so you retain power steering but lose the clutter.

You need to change the rack for non-PS rack. I haven't gotten round to it yet but its top of the list! Its alright when your up to speed but trying to manouver is a nightmare!

Depends on your car/engine sonny.

Deffo change the rack for a non-PAS, else it will be extremely heavy. EPAS is deffo a good idea though, going from a pas car to a non-pas car hurts.

you need ecu for e pas not just the column. Cant spell that word. Plus bracket etc. Saxo pas is so much easier in terms of how to do it keeping rack thats in it now. Although thats probably too much clutter. Pas is for girls.

If you use SPAXO pump you've still got the clutter..

Plus the EPS if speed sensitive.

Its a wanker to fit the column and bracket but well worth it.

I've got my engine out at the minute, removing the battery tray, replacing my front panel and respraying it so wanting everything to be immaculate and tidy.
Just want to do it right first time since i'm using all my free time on it which at the moment is all day evey day and i may not have an opportunity of so much free time to do this

i always think if PAS comes as a option on a car then you don't need it.

dead easy, i took the PAS outta my GSi and ordered a refurbed rack from work (Halfords) which i got for bout £45. If you've got an empty engine may..then it is a ten minute job!

Oh and the parking etc, isnt a problem...you dont have to worry bout that!

only thing i would say is to get the bulkhead bung from a non-pas corsa before you put the new one in...otherwise you end up with there not being a proper seal around the column, although it never caused me problems. Just wished i could have done it proper.
