Doesn't have to be unloved to corrode. Mine had a fair bit where the previous owner either hadn't noticed it or was just doing what he could do minimise rather than take on the big job of sorting it out. And that was absolutely minty mint to look at, just not given the full stripdown inspection as it was a daily driver.

A shame, quite gutted about it as i'd wanted a GSi for as long

Maybe when i'm earning again and the garage is empty i'll take another one on
