Author best way to clean header tank???

anyone got any tips for cleaning out the sludge and grime out of the header tank it is currently off the car and have already flushed boiling water throught and bleech. its flushed a little bit out but doesnt seem to be getting any cleaner now.

dishwasher or fill with washing powder and hot water and leave overnight.

supose it depends how bad it was to start with as mine was pretty bad. suppose i should just keep doing it and eventually it will clean up.

ive just filled the header tank with washing powder and a dishwasher tablet and submerged it in hot water.i was just about to put it in the dishwasher when my mum shouted 'get t fuck your not putting that in there!'

Steredent tablets, they are used for cleaning false teeth.

I use them for cleaning out my thermos flask, fill it up with hot water, drop a tablet or 2 in and leave overnight.
