My sis is looking for a new car as a baby is on its way, she wants a Astra H and has seen some to view today.
Both 06 plate 1.6 sxi 5 dr
One at a dealer £6,500 , 50,000 miles, Black
One Private £6,300, 42,000 miles, dark grey
Not sure on the MOT,Tax details as yet, do they seem like reasonable prices to pay.
My real question is though is there anything to look out for apart from the normal things on every car.

Best to check autotrader for comparable cars.

Yeah just loked , they actually seem a little overpriced, though its not my money, i think 6K sounds a better price so theres gonna be some dealing going on.
Anyone know any thing particular to look out for on them though

There's nothing specific on them really, more the diesel engines that people worry about.

Take it for a good run and make sure theres no clutch judder when your pulling away etc. Thats the most common fault with them, apart from that there alright. I'd say 6k was about the money for private but you would expect to pay an extra 500 for a dealer one.
I'd go for the private cheaper one myself and knock £300 quid off it.

i think its only the 1.9, dont quote me on it , john will probably know,
EGR valve clogs up, swirl flap gets stuck or something like that,
