Hey guys,
Just sat at work looking at the brothers girlfriends MOT failure sheet.
Its time to fit 2 new rear wheel bearings,

Basically pressing in and out isn't a problem, but when it comes to doing the centre nut up...

Is there a torque setting?
Or how tight?

Some seem to have to be uber tight, others uber loose!
All I know is I have to knock the side of the hub nut into a groove in the stub axle!

Any suggestions?
I can't find anything online, using my blackberry is a bit limited!i
Cheers

unless its one that stops on its own when its tight it should be just enough to take the play out of the bearing

Yeah I get worried about going to tight or loose, probably wreck the bearing going too tight?

Won't that break the bearing?

Surely there's a torque setting to make it dead simple?

Oh right lol, corsa ones have to be pretty much hand tight?

Or is that cos they have a split pin through the axle?

Confuses me!

It's because they are tapered bearings and have a spilt pin

Bearings that come as on piece are usually done up very tight. Tapered bearings such as corsa rear bearings only a bit more than hand tight. These will also have a split pin to stop them coming undone.
