No, that area of Dubai is called Business Bay, which fell on its arse when the recession hit.

Plenty of completed developments - Google Image Search 'Dubai Marina', 'Sheikh Zayed Road', 'Madinat Jumeirah', etc

Yeah exactly.

they are building it up before the oil reserves run out. Then its planned to become a tourist destination.

That said, with all the horror stories about people getting banged up for false charges, and other small charges such as kissing in public (fair enough, different culture, but if you want it to be a tourist destination, you gotta relax the rules or no-one will come), its starting to make people think twice before going.

SO humid there though. The main road runs to the left of that shot. I can see my old hotel suite on that weird shaped building to the left
