"The policyholder may also drive any motor car not belonging to him (her) and not hired to him (her) under a hire purchase agreement."

Without looking up the small print, what are the limitations of this? Does the other car have to be insured? Does it have to be insured fully comp, would the policyholder driving another car be insured third party or fully comp if they were driving another car?

Thanks

Your insurance gives you the ability to drive any other car with 3rd party cover, so long as its not owned by yourself, and is insured by another driver (doesnt matter the level of cover) & they give their permission for you to drive.

I was with Bell and used to drive other cars, I was 21 at the time, I specified drive any other car and it cost me £40 so Im guessing I was covered

other car has to be insured by someone who isnt banned, and you cant use the policy to get another car out of an impound

There was a forum somewhere discussing this, some companies apparently let you drive it even if it wasn't insured elsewhere.

As soon as you stepped out the car on a public road it was then illegal though.

Basically has to be owned and insured by someone else.

You have to be 25 every single place I tried at the end of last year, apart from Royal Sun Alliance who I ended up going with through IAM surety.

You are only insured third party to drive the other car, doesn't matter if that is inured 3rd party or fully comp.

He'll be on their insurance policies, not through his own.

Yeah I meant I have the cover through my policy TPFT, but I wouldnt want to drive a car worth 15/16k TPFT so im on their policies as a named driver fully comp. Maybe should have explained.

I mentioned this to Brentacre last week, you have to be 25+ and the car has to have its own insurance.
