Nah, not at all in my experiences.

Get your International Licence from the post office for a fiver, and you're good to go.

I've hired a few in Ibiza nd can't say they ever asked anything in regards to points.

Eh. Ive always used my standard EU licence, which is fine in EU and EEA countries

Just got back from Feurteventura, we hired a car for a week and when i handed my licence over the only thing she wrote down was my address. They really don't care aslong as you are over 21.

At Avis in the US they just took the card part of my license.

Thought so....just that we are off to Italy in August and are hiring a car. Was a bit concerned my 6 points may be an issue with some companies....

Where abouts in Italy......roads are mental over there!!

Be aware that the horn is the most used part of the car over there & that if you do have an accident its settled by hopping out kissing the nice man on each cheek & shouting caio bella.....then your good to go!!
