got a 1.6 16v sport. and its making this noise most of the time now. like a spinning disk noise. sometimes really loud aswel. jus wundad if any knows what to do? i.e spray all the things with wd40 or will it need a new belt or summit? not a clue so any help wud be cool cheers

Was the aircon pump on mine, used to have to spray it with WD40 every few months

Could be alternator, PAS pump, water pump, idler pulley, AC pump as they all hang out round there.

Spray one at a time, if you spray them all in one go you wont know which one was faulty.

The pulleys, in the back where they bolt on.

The bearings on the pulleys.

Another technique to use is putting a long, heavy screwdriver on each of the components and putting your ear to it. You should be able to hear which one is noisy then. Obviously you'll have trouble doing to idlers and water pump that way and be careful!

I was going to guess stone protector on the disk brake. Stone in it maybe - had it happen to mine a few time.
