posted up here about f20 and f16 gearboxes a while back, i just wondered if anyone has used a f18 box and what its like? they come off diesel astras ect..

they can be used no problem, i've heard rumours they are the best box, longer ratio so a few folk say, but i can't confirm this.

i've heard of people using them just never heard what they are like, i was at my mates yard just before pvs and he said hes got f16 and f20 boxes spare if i wanted one and he said hes got f18's aswell if i wanted to be different but we didn't know wat they are like on xes compared to f16 and f20's

Mate had one on his mk2 Astra xe and another one had one in his Tigra xe. The f18 was quite useless, too long a ratio

as with most vauchall gearbox there are close and wide versions of the f18. not all are wide ratio. the close ration f18 isnt much different to the f20 virtually the same.

Got an f18 on my Corsa, no problems with it though on the motorway in 5th I feel it should do better.
