This right here is why our country is in massive debt, why should it cost so much to recover a plastic arm from the motorway? 10 minute job

"However, Merseyside Police put a lot of resources into this incident and not only has it caused expense both in terms of time and money, it caused traffic chaos for motorists and was extremely upsetting for the drivers who saw the plastic arm in the road"

because they didnt know it was plastic to begin with hence they where looking for a human severed arm.

the only knowledge they had to go on was reports of a severed arm in the road from other road users, didnt know it was plastic at the start.

Because as said, you dont know if its a plastic arm at first. If someone gets hit by a car on a motorway limbs tend to go flying. If they hadnt done a search to see if theres anything else and a body turns up. The police would get a slating. Cant win either way

Police get a slating anyway, should buck up their ideas and stop treating everyone like criminals and they'd get a better reputation. Would also help if they turned up on time.

My mate was involved in this, a lot of the public reports were unclear on location and some even suggested it was still dripping and from a real person.

Plus it was already removed while they were searching for it.
