Mines quite loud on the VXR. Not nasty and raspy or anything. It pops quite alot too. I'm 29. Should I have grown out of it by now?
Tbh the exhaust is 80% for performance gains and 20% for sound anyway.

Bit different on a turbo car IMO.
Or at least new turbo cars, they have a much nicer sound to them, even aftermarket ones.

I secretly kind of miss having a loud exhaust I had a really loud system on it when it was a 1.0. Looking back I probably looked a right twat but I loved the pops and bangs. After I had a standard car for a while though I couldn't believe how nice it was not having my ears bleeding every time I drove somewhere!
The janspeed system I've got on the 1.6 is soo quiet though even with the 4-2-1 manifold just driving normally you can't hear it. But when you give it the beans it sounds so nice. Best of both worlds!

scorpion make cracking exhausts to be fair. o had two on two corsas and the noise was just right. I know a couple of people with them on different cars...and even my brother-in-law's Escort RST sounds gorgeous (with its 4" tail). Loud but not OTT. the grumble on idle is lovely.
Would certainly say they'd be worth checking out.
I hate big cans on 1litre corsas (especially C's), putting a bloody bean can on a lawnmower...

I found it quite pleasant when i bought my sport as it had a standard system, i was given an exhaust for free so wasnt going to complain, and it's no particularly loud, just my BMC that likes to cause a breach.
My gsi has a stainless from the catback with no silencers, should an interesting drive.

My standard exhaust makes a bit of noise, but i want to try out one of those straight through centres on ebay to get a bit more out of it.
When i was at the tyre place the day after PVS, a 406 estate turned up sounding like a bit of a beast. They got it up on the ramp and someone had nicked the cat off it
Numberwang!

Beast!? If it sounded anything like my 206 last week, it would've sounded like an earthquake coming up the road
