A friend of mine has upgraded to the iPhone 4, and said I can have his 3g.
I was going to get a 3gs / 4 anyway, so what are the differences? Will I notice that the phone isn't as good?
Is it worth just sticking it on eBay for x amount and then bid on a few 3gs's /4's for an extra £50 / £200.
Was going to get a 4, but then backed off when I saw all the problems with the signal etc...

I doubt you'll get a 4 on ebay.
Well, what i mean is, you would be stupid to get one off ebay, i just had a quick look, a 16gb locked to o2 went for 950quid.
If they wait a few weeks they can get a sim only deal for 500quid. madness.

3G is crap. iOS4 is rubbish on them.
Get a 3GS, put it in a case and it will look just like a iPhone 4 to everyone else

Shall I stick it on eBay then, its an 8gb 3g.
Will get a 3gs on there, how much can you pick them up for?
Are they really going for £950? They're in stock in my local tesco for £479, theres 6 or 7 there. Good investment

I have a 3G. Battery life is really crap though. If you're using it for work Alex i wouldn't bother. I work for a company so if people can't get hold of me they call the office. No big deal, but for you it will be a big deal.
I really like mine, it's not slow at all. Had about 5 die on me though
I had a 3GS, had no issues with that one at all. My sister has it 12 months on and still works brilliant for her. Battery is a little crap but doesn't die over night when unused like my 3G does.
Only have the Facebook and eBay App with notifications turned off. Push e-mail is most likly the killer..

You must've had all the shit turned on then coz the same happened to mine.
Now, with everything turned off, I only have to charge it once a week, if I barely use it.

feature wise I love it, things I dislike are the qwerty keyboard, signal is generally crap compared to any other phone I've had, battery is a bit poor but to be expected with a phone like this I guess, and the sensor always changes the bloody screen orientation when I don't want it to

iOS4 isn't as good on the 3G ones, but that's only going on what my mate said.
If I were you i would get the 3GS. I don't like the feel/shape of the 4. Doesn't feel as nice in your hand. But the screen is awesome on it.

S the point in having an iPhone if you 'have all the suit turned off'?

When I get it, i'll bang it on eBay and put a little extra for a 3gs.
Quite like the htc thing that Mark Graham had today though.

Quite an overrated problem tbh.
Tests have shown, that even with the antennae issue the iPhone 4 has far better reception than the 3GS.

Untill the issue is widely known resolved, i'd rather have a different model, I use my phone a lot to speak to clients, friends and family. Would do my head in if the signal went all the time, especially when just holding the phone.

If you're not using them, whats the point in having them turned on... unless you have a fetish for charging your phone daily?
