Anyone fancy telling me of their experiences with having a company car?
I got offered a new job on Thursday, and it comes with a company car. I should get a list of the cars i'll have a choice from sometime in the coming weeks, but i wanted some info before that time.
I understand that the extra tax you pay is linked to the value of the car, and also how eco friendly it is? How does paying for petrol work?
Yes, i realise that there are many sites with this sort of info on, but i want to hear it from someone who has experience of it from this site.
Thanks

You pay tax on it, depending on the CO2 emissions and the fuel it takes. Also, highly unlikely but you pay extra tax if your allowed personal milage

You will be paying the BIK per month or benefit in kind.
BIK is worked out on the p11d value of a car (list price, extras, delivery + vat).
The C02 level is very important too. The lower the better. Anything under 120g/km c02 is 13% on a diesel.
Then you take your tax be it 20%, 40%.
Take a 318d Msport for example;
£28950 x 13% x 40% divide 12 = £125.45/mth.
I dont get private fuel paid for and that is taken from my salary each month. usually circa £45 quid.
So my £30k car costs me very little in the grand scheme of things.

also i had to replace 2 rear tyres the other day - that would have cost me over £500
Then insurance, road tax servicing etc
