Hi Guys,

Really considering on purchasing one of the above soon so I was just wondering what they're like ?
Reliablity ? , Performance? ? , Running Costs ?

Also i will have the car for at least of a couple of years so i will in deed modify it, so whats out there on offer on the performance front at the moment, i hear tuning boxes are better than remaps?

So any feedback and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

P.S If you own one feel free to upload as much photos as you can or if you know someone who owns one, Thanks

sold mine 3 months ago, was fairly nippy nice to drive, never let me down, though i did have to change the steering rack at 40k.

fuel economy was as expected 40 - 50 mpg depending how driven

kept mine for nearly 4 years.

Had mine nearly 4 years.

Reliablity - Never had a single problem with mine.
Performance - Boring as hell.
Running Costs, i average about 45 to the gallon round town. 55+ on a run

Denso ECU is not mappable, tuneing boxes only up the fuel pressure so dont expect massive gains on the 1.7.

Mine has a dtuk red box, blueflame turbo back exhaust system and Gaz gha coilovers.

Its fine as a run around but its not an exciting car to drive realy.

Loads more pics in my garage

Cheers, ive been considering one of these dervs or a 1.4sxi ?

Yeah ive been loking at yours Nick, proper smart. Saw it a PVS and thought Nice!

The problem is though the alloys I was considering buying and would look great, are only avalible as four stud so that puts them out of the equasion, might go for OEM look

Also this will be my first Car

The 1.4 is rubbish. Barely any more powerful than the 1.2 but about 120kg heavier.

1.7 should be pretty comfortable to drive, especially boxed, that would be my choice.

Ive just got an open cone filter on mine, nothing fancy.
Coilovers i payed about 350, the dampers were second hand but i had new springs put on them. I think youd pay about 500ish for them new.
Tuneing box totaly changed how the car drives. So much more torque at any point in the rev range.
About as fast as a standerd 1.8 with a tuneing box, loads quicker in gear though.

Yeah i think the V-Maxx coilies are quite decent for the money, what's the difference between the red tuning box and the PDI box, does anyone know ?

Also how much was your Exhaust if you dont mind me asking, was it a one-off or do they do them specifically for that model ?

Is the 1.3CDTi even worth talkin about or not ?

I have a 1.4 and it's pants really, barely notice the extra power over a 1.2. I'd have a 1.7cdti no problem. 1.3cdti isn't a bad drive either but not that quick

I payed £390 in june 07.

Front coilovers are all the way down so around -60mm and rear are custom -75mm springs. The only arch mods ive done are removed the arch bolts ard bond the arches back on.

Why bother with a £500 + intercooler ?

The VXR rad/intercooler pack fits, same as the 1.9 astra h set-up, its good for 280bhp too as shown on alot of astra vxr's
