Hi folks,I've got a corsa b,1400 i,1994,it has 14" mags on it.I was thinking of putting 15's on it off a later model, anybody tried it?
The reason for doing it is better petrol economy, and more top speed for the same revs, plus more between the gears,E.g.-instead of 0-20mph in first, maybe 0-25 and so on thro'the gears.
Every inch on the diameter of the wheel gives 3.14" on the circumference, which is of course 3.14 inches more per wheel revolution.
The speedo would be out of course, but can be marked on the glass with a marker pen, with the help of a mate pacing you in another car.
Changing the subject, will a 1600 astra head fit on my corsa, and are the valves bigger? and,how many thou' will the head stand machined off. Also, will an astra 1600 engine fit in it?
I worked in the experimental toolroom at general motors Holden Melbourne in the early 60's,anybody still around from then?We used to use the airstrip on Salmon st for testing hot rods and bikes, and watch the Drag racing at weekends.
Looking forward to your replies guys.

If you have the correct tyre size then the rolling radius will be the same which won't make your car any faster etc. In fact it will most likely make it slower because the wheels will weigh more.

Hi,
I put astra van wheels on a nova,it went round corners like it was on rails, plus the extra diameter increased the cruising and top end speed for the same revs. The extra weight seemed to hold it down better, especially in the wet.I suppose expensive boy racer wheels do conform to the original circumference, and keep the speedo configeration the same. Thanks for the reply
