As titled, if I was to start a new insurance policy and set up monthly payments, could I then cancel the insurance if I say, sold the car a few months in? Would it vary from company to company as I've only ever known 12 month plans?

not always yo wont, if you are only looking to keep the car for a couple of months try a company that just does PAYG insurance, might work out cheaper
