U saying it was running ok before it got hot, what do u mean? Doesn't the temp go back down on a run?

My 1.6 sport always runs around 100 degrees before the fan kicks in when just driving round town, was fine on its 2 1/2 hour drive to VBOA down the motorway, stayed in the low 90s

I don't know about anyone elses but my x16xe very cool compared to whats being said here. Mine stays around 85 when on the move and around 90 at most in traffic The only time mines got anywhere near 100 was when I was getting it red hot for its emissions test.

What should they run at? Is the optimum temp the same throughout the corsa range? My 1.4 8v sri runs at about 92-94

thanks for the replies. It was running ok it was staying under quater of the way of the gauge all the time. it was only running hot if it was idling for 10 mins. now the temp just shoots up and triggers the fan - then cools down. motorway driving it stays low though

Run the car with the bottle cap off untill the car reaches temp then see what happens? If your water pipes are getting hard then it could point to hg

make sure you bleed the air out too, i had a prob with mine getting hot quickly and couldnt figure out why, had to get it up to temperature and put the heaters on hot and full blow, then open the coolant cap with the engine running and a load or air came out, car was fine after that

leaving the cap off has the same effect, turning the heaters on will only slow the car from heating up
