i got an asbo warning in my civic then a few months later got pulled over in my nova GTE for wheel spinning off a roundabout, they asked me if i already had an asbo warning and i just said no. they did a check on my car and said ok and just issued me with another asbo warning if they had done a check on me my car would have been siezed!

When I had the Toyo's on (which people think are good for some reason) I had to pull away slower than a granny in the wet otherwise it would result in epic wheelspin And this is in a heavier car with less power than an XE

They are not ASBOs. It is a Section 59 warning. You weren't able to control your car, resulting in wheelspin. Crap tyres or not, you are in control of the throttle and should be aware of weather conditions.

S59 is given to driver and vehicle. It is valid for a year. Even if you have a private plate on the vehicle, and revert to its previous VRM, the S59 still stands as the car is on our systems as a cherished transfer and chassis no. etc on there too.

You can try to appeal a S59 warning - but will get nowhere.

Bottom line is - behave, and don't drive in such a way as to bring yourself to the attention of the Police. Then your car won't get seized.

I seized a car from a lad where I work (as a PC) when he decided to pull a handbrake turn in the middle of a supermarket carpark while it was open. Cried like a baby when his car got loaded onto the recovery truck, and cost him £190 to get it back. Served him right - was lucky i didnt write him a ticket for failing to be in proper control of his vehicle - that would have been £60 and 3 points on top.

Gtitim, mine says section 127 on it ??

Handbrake turn is a no brainer, its not as if i yanked the handbrake on and decided to ping it off the limiter for 5 minutes.

I used to have a lot of respect for the polis when it came to trafficing the area, yet you still see all the same idiots racing around the town, doing handbrakes, burnouts etc and they never get caught, i made a wee booboo and get a fucking asbo.

And i was considering joining the police.

Archie - Section 127 of which Act?

Police can only deal with what they see - you thing a cop is going to watch someone do a burnout in front of them or handbrake tuen and let them get away scot free?? If they dont see it, then they have to go getting witness statements before can act.

Just realised you are in Scotland - different acts and powers to England - sorry cant comment on scottish law.

Antisocial Behaviour Act 2004, Section 127.
