Is it just me or do marshalls at race circuits, always seem to really weird and generally very angry? Take this guy for example...

The few I've spoken to are awful, think they know everything about racing despite never actually going out on the circuit themselves.

Full of criticism of other people.

The thing is anyone can marshall, all you need to know is how to use a fire extinguisher and know your flags.
Is probably mainly lazy badgers doing it for a quick buck.

yes - they generally give up their time (somethimes free of charge) to let folk race/go on track.

I dont know about anywhere else,but the majority of them at Knockhill are volunteers.IIRC you get your lunch etc and free entry to the racing.Would love to do the Touring Cars.

It's volunteers everywhere across the world as far as I know, even F1.

guys - what exactly do you need to know to be a marshal?

As long as you can wave a flag, put a fire out etc - good.

You NEED these guys if you want to go on track so cut them some slack OR DO IT YOURSELF.

You need to know enough Wikipedia to make you look like you know what you're talking about on forums. Or you can gain the same amount of knowledge by going on one trip to a certain track in Germany or you can gain the correct amount of knowledge credits by going on four track days.

the guy i was talking about would be a cock regardless of if he was a marshall, however i feel it plays a small part in feeding his clueless ego
