If your doing under 10k a year then don't bother with the diesel.
If your doing over 10k a year (I've doen 16k in 11 months so far!) then the diesel will work out for you. I make a saving using my diesel but if I got a job where I could walk to work then I'd get a petrol

Yes but the point is the 1.8's are utter dog shite to drive.. My sisters got one and its crap compared to my diesel.

I'm just on the limit of doing 10k a year and find my diesel cheaper to run than my old 1.2 Corsa and its way more fun to drive.
Never mind the fact it cost more to buy than a petrol, I'll get most of that back when I sell it, guaranteed.
I say just go for it.
