Been to look at the old 'Karisma' nightclub today.
Pretty good terms on the lease etc.
Massive potential inside...but...
What was it like before?
Why do you think it closed?
Good/Bad points about it?
Any help appreciated

Was too far away from all the other nightclubs, opened up for a bit not long ago and it was toss. Lots of potential yes, but dont think id walk all the way from silver street to get there.
You got free toast when you left the last time it was open .

Fair enough.
Is silver street where Trilogy is/was?
Went to look there also. Far too big to take on thought. Rent was daft too!

Yes silver street is where trilogy is. Karisma could be made good but it would have to have a gimmick, late opening or cheap drink etc etc. All you can drink at trilogy for 12 quid used to empty alot of places from 10:30pm onwards.

Iv never actually been in karisma but i did go on the facebook page alot when it re-opened. It seemed everyone wanted it like it used to be...then complained that it was like it used to be haha.
It is a bit far away from silver st which is where most end up later in the night. Plus theres now che bar, hogans and coco which are quite recent and are becoming more popular han the lies of trillogy (when it was open).
Alot of bars close together in donny so its a struggle for anything new.

Exactly the idea we had for karisma.
Got a good deal with the brewery (next discount level up from us is the MDs discount )
Would have to be based around 75p/£1 drinks all night etc.
Is there a student night in Doncaster?

Im not sure if they tried that last time though? Aslong as it doesnt then become full of idiots like trillogy did you should be ok. There 12 all you could drink on a friday was good value but attracted the wrong crowd for alot if people.

Yes student night is a tuesday.
With regards to cheap drinks pulling people out of places, i dont really know tbh, people are lazy nowadays and cant be arsed with a walk to one club and when they are done have to walk back.
Most people just like to stay in the centre where walking from one place to the other is only 10 seconds across the road or next door. Cheap things can draw alot of people though. Best thing id do is have a couple nights in doncaster yourself and get lashed every time and see what you think.

Tuesday night is sort of Student night & it moves to a Thursday every so often. Trilogy is now closed & the late night options are limited, A place called Priory is the latest option if you're a dirty stopout but it's about as classy as wanking on a train.
I can remember speaking to the last people who attempted to re open Karisma & I think their mistake was that they wanted to re open the same nightclub that closed years before.
Are you going after a certain market? There's definately markey for an indie type nightclub as the old favourite Walkabout has started to lose a lot of customers. Plus you're down the bottom end of town near Tut 'n' Shive, The Leapord & Vintage Rock Bar, could easily attract people who avoid Silver Street at all costs
Might even make a good live music venue if you're willing to give it a chance

Live music is a big risk for somewhere of that size. Good idea yes, but risky.
What's the latest opening places in town?
