LOL at the direction this has turned

A guy I went to school with used to get handouts of cars etc, & now hes just a total cock, if he see's someone he knows in something better than hes got he goes bubbling to daddy & gets sorted out with something better so he keeps the upper hand, or so he thinks. Still doing it at 28....what a nob, man up ffs & make your own money!!

Dont agree his dad should buy him a car at all, i'm sure he never got money by giving it away irresponsibly.

Give them the skills and upbringing to do well for themselves. Handouts like piles of cash or cars rarely works long term.

The kids that grew up next door to us, there dad did alright working for powergen and they always got what they wanted, now there dads fucked off to indonesia with some mail order bride and there both fucktard wasters. People that expect something for nothing are always twats imo, doesnt matter if your related or not.

Because its his son. I would like to look after to my son. And dont worry, this will never happen to me. I earn more than my dad, so dont get the impression i think this because ive had it done for me. i will never get this. But i would like to think being in the posistion of his dad, i would treat my children.

People are different. If i had a kid, seeing them drive a nice car and seeing them happy would make me happy.

kind of tricky this one

when i 1st passed my test my auntie gave me my 1st car fair enough it was only a ka but she was in a good position and decided she wanted to help out her nephew, this didnt turn me into a fanny who expected everything on a plate it actually made me more grounded.

so in theory i agree that if you have family who are doing well whats the harm in them helping you out?

i also see the point that you've got to make your own way in life

When I turned 17 I got 'given' a 1L Polo worth about 300 quid, I moaned it was shit but my old man stuck to his guns & said if you want better sort it out yourself, so I did & he took the polo back pocketing the cash.

Thinking back he done exactly the right thing & i'll do the same when I have kids.

Some folk are just tight and selfish. If i have over £100,000 of cars, i would give my son/daughter something like a clio and it not break the bank, make him/her happy, and im sure they would still see the value of a pound.

But anyways thats blukoos problem not ours!

Its not a problem for me. I guess i'm not a spoilt little cunt like some of you.

Tight and selfish? What you don't realise is that any money my dad saves now, he's basically saving for me and my brother. One day he'll be gone and we'll benefit from what he's left behind.

Bluekoo i owe you an opoligy mate i was out of order calling your dad a twat mate i don't know your family and i had no right saying it. I'd had a really bad day when i wrote that.

I'm just REALLY generous when it comes to money etc and i suppose that's why were not wealthy people i suppose End of the day like the guys have said it can go both ways and it's a tough decision to make. You seem like a sound guy though and IMO he should at least offer you a car? If i did and my son said no i'd be really proud.

Technically I never got given though, I was only getting to use the banger, it was sold & he pocketed the cash when I bought my own car.

Which is fair enough, I think I turned out well from not being spoiled as a child, with enough drive and ambition to succeed to be able to spoil myself. Which is really how it should be. My kids will be brought up the same way.

hats off to your old man for making a decent life for himself, hate cunts that get it handed to them on a plate and dont appreciate the hard work it takes to get nice things in life.

as for your old man not buying you a car like some people are suggesting then fair play to him, you sound like the kind of guy that wouldnt accept it as you say your not a spoilt wee laddie and stand on your own two feet.

love the new rs by the way, looks really mean at the front

The people who get given cars always seem to be the people who dont even really like cars much as well, like girls that get 10k for their first car. What id give for that much to spend on a car! I did so much overtime to earn my first car, and I enjoyed getting it that little bit more.

Nobody knows that for sure though. So if he has the cash then its worth a punt. Worst case scenario he doesnt sell it and therefore doesnt lose out.
