Things to look out for etc.I know the basics, just need some saxo specific bad points.(apart from the image they have).

Going to see a phase2 2moz.Described as mint and faultless etc but need to know some week points to look at.Already got him to drop 250 but ideally would like more(not that its over-priced etc).

Its the gf that fancies 1 next and ive always had a wee soft spot for wanting to own 1.

Rear axles are shit. And a lot of them usually have the battery or airbag light on constantly.

Rust quite easy under bonnet area.

Rear axles are rubbish especially if it's been lowered.
Seats tend to wobble about quite alot.
Seen a good few with rotten boot floors because of the way the spare wheel is mounted
Under the ecu rots on some
Some like to eat gearboxes
Gear linkages tend to make the gear stick feel like your stirring soup.

Please don't let this put u off though lol I'm only speaking from past experiences with ones I've had , few mates have had them and they have been fine.
Just your luck if u get a good one or not tbh lol

As said, check the rear axle by giving the wheel a wiggle. Not all phase 2's are the 98bhp models so make sure it has a silver rocker cover if you want the more powerful engine. If the airbag light is on, have a look under the seat, the connector is shit and falls out. I loved my one. 4-2-1 manifold, sports cat and cat back exhaust and it wasn't shy!

Also, if it sounds slightly tappy, don't be too concerned. If it's very tappy then naturally, you know about cars, be wary. But a slight tap is the standard noise for these fuckers

Power steering pump from u-pull-it in Inverkeithing will only cost 10pound.Sure they have a few Saxo's in at the moment.Hope so as im off to try get a set of standard rear lights to replace these shitty lexus style 1s that came on it.

Anyway, all seems well so far.Totally standard, rear axle looks to be perfect.

It is a fun wee car and very chuckable.Handling is spot on even for standard. No body roll etc.Interior isnt the nicest place to be but meh,itl do till she finds a decent Puma.

Aye your no jokin Eck.Thought the seats in the Astra were bad.
Oh and its the 90bhp silvertop with the single plug Ecu.Cheers for mentioning that Eck,was always under the impression all the phase2's were 98bhp.Seems it was the 2001 onwards that had the 98bhp motor, mines a 2000 p2.Still goes no bad and howls inside with the K+N.lol.
